🌼🌼🌼 What You Need to Know 🌼🌼🌼

What? Kilig? Kilig-athon? Why?

It is a Filipino word. It means being in a state of romantic giddiness: i.e. butterflies in the stomach, feelings of floating in cloud nine, face hurting from smiling.

FYI: Personally as an existing entity: I think I didn’t even do justice translating this magical word.

A community of both authors, readers of those authored books, and artists who are involved in the making of the novels. I believe the community of authors here are Filipinos. What I love most about #romanceclass novels is that I quote and unquote all sex must be consensual, responsible, and hot (ie not bad sex, not punishment)”. If you were skeptical; I hope that eased it all off. Another is that #romanceclass novel(s) features diversity and culture. And what’s the best way for us, readers to be blown by the diversity and culture in these books, non-other than an #ownvoices author. Right?

Other than the books we’ll be having for the month. They have a ton more of novels to choose from, divided by demographics and heat level you may find out more of #romanceclass.

🌼🌼🌼 Reading Prompts 🌼🌼🌼

For the #RomanceClass: Kilig-athon, AJ and I have divided them as four weeks with four categories assigned throughout the month.

Trigger Warning and Content: These books are new adult novels it may contain sex scenes and steam throughout the novel. Know that scenes are done tastefully, consensual, responsible, hot and aforementioned not bad sex, not punishment.

For Week 1 [February 1st to 7th] – we’ll have the friends to lovers four our first week…

Fall Like Rain – Ana Tejano

Fall Like Rain

Rain De Castro has been in love with her best friend, Mark Velasco, for almost the entire time she has known him, but she’s clearly in the friend zone because he’s happily in a relationship. Or so she thought until the news of his break-up reaches her. Now that Mark’s single again, she decides that it’s time to get out of the zone. But when her cousin Lissa comes into the picture and sets her eyes on Mark, Rain feels troubled when he gets a little too friendly with her. Rain is determined to fight for what she feels this time, but is it worth the effort if it’s a losing battle from the start? Will she back off to give way for her best friend’s happiness, even if it means losing him to someone else again?

Week 2 [February 8th – 14th] – forced proximity spotlight book is…

What Kind of Day (Six 32 # 1) – Mina V. Esguerra

What Kind of Day (Six 32 Central, #1)It’s a bad day for Ben. After years of earnest work, he’s been fired from his job as a speechwriter for a Philippine senator. Name tarnished and bridges burned, he steps into what he thinks is a shuttle ride home and accidentally joins a tour of his own city.

It was supposed to be a good day for Naya. Her passion is traveling, her hobby is discovering cool things to see and do, and taking people on tours of Metro Manila is her only job right now. An extra person at the last minute isn’t ideal, especially if the person is a former colleague and the subject of the day’s hottest political trash fire. But work is work, and she decides to let him stay in the tour.

She’s hoping she won’t regret it. He’s hoping his day turns around. What kind of day could it be? Maybe the best kind.

Week 3 [February 15th to 21st] – Fake dating…

Like Nobody’s Watching by Tara Frejas

Like Nobody's Watching

It’s all fun and games until someone catches feelings.

If there’s something Pio Alvez is good at, it’s pretending to be someone he’s not. On stage and on-screen, the actor has mastered the art of becoming the characters he plays, and his new role should be no different. After all, how difficult would it be to pretend to be smitten with a beautiful, intelligent go-getter like Audrey Alonzo?

Perhaps it’s more difficult pretending not to be.

And Week 4 [February 22nd to 28th]– last and definitely not the least; with the hope of prolonging the feels, we’ll be reading an anthology…

Start Here by Agay Llanera, H. Bentham, Ella Banta, Danice Sison, Yeyet Soriano, Barbie Barbieto, Katt Briones, Bobbi Moran, Motzie Dapul, and Brigitte Bautista

Start HereThere’s a first time for everything. Gatecrashing a KPop concert with an oppa in a business suit. Taking shelter from the storm with the girl you’ve been meaning to shake off. That kiss that blurs the line between friendship and something more. A one-night stand (or, is it?) with your best friend from across the hallway.

Dive into these 10 stories of first encounters – unapologetically queer, happy endings required, with a smattering of that signature #romanceclass kilig. Whether you’re recalling your own firsts or out there looking for one, there’s a story in here for you.

So, go on.

Turn the page.

Start here.
